New European style vans are boosting sales in the U.S. The sleek, ecofriendly and practical vans are replacing the older versions and providing additional benefits to business owners. To protect your business’ vehicles, Commercial Auto Insurance FL can provide coverage for your fleet.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the sales of Ford’s Transit, Daimler AG’s Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, Nissan’s NV, and Fiat Chrysler’s NV’s ProMaster are up 11 percent compared to August of last year.
While some business owners enjoy the look of the truck, others are sold on the modern designs and fuel efficiency. Shelley Loo, spokeswoman for Time Warner Cable Inc., explained “One of the reasons why we are looking for this type of vehicle is high fuel efficiency.” She stated that the new Transit vans have improved their fleet’s fuel economy by 47 percent since they replaced older models with 500 diesel powered vans.
The business oriented designed vans are customizable to meet specific needs, as well. For example, experts estimate that commercial buyers spend between $2,000 and $3,000 on accessories for storing equipment and other accommodations, as reported by WSJ.
The profitability of these vans has skyrocketed, as well. The average transaction price of the Transit and similar vans has increased by 10 percent over the last year and up 27.6% since 2010, according to J.D. Power & Associates.
Ford Transit marketing manager Yaro Hetman stated “We have been running these vans on European roadways for years and much of what drivers want over there they want here in the U.S. They like easy drivability, fuel efficiency, tighter turning radiuses and that is what I think make these vans attractive.” Imports have been so prevalent, in fact, that Ford has shelled out hefty sums of money to accommodate the growing demand. As the van is 9 feet tall, Ford has paid rail companies to increase shelving on 400 railcars to allow for easier transport.
